We place an emphasis on spiritual, moral, social and cultural development across our curriculum and support children in developing principles for distinguishing between right and wrong.

Arts & Craft

We believe that the curriculum should stimulate enjoyment and commitment to learning as a means to encourage the best possible progress and the highest attainment for all pupils; preparing them effectively for the next steps in their education.

Our  Early Years Foundation Stage consists of a large nursery setting and two reception classes within Crown Heights Academy .

The nursery and reception classes are spacious, stimulating areas each with a secure outside learning area. In addition, we have the access to the extensive school grounds and are able to use the school grounds for P.E. sessions and assemblies. During the warmer terms , children in the nursery have the opportunity to have Water Play activities.

  • 8:00 to 8.30: Parents bring children into the nursery. The children self register and then choose from a wide range of activities, both inside and outdoors.
  • Whole class time: children gather together as a whole group to welcome each other and learn days of the week. In this time we celebrate children’s achievements, progress and talk about activities that are planned.
  • Mini-Groovers: Dance is a three minute whole class activity to help develop fine motor skills.
  • Focused activities: These cover many skills from cooking, painting, using the computer to walks in the school grounds to explore the natural habitat in small groups.
  • Snack time: The snack area, which has the choice of juice, biscuit and water and a variety of fruit, can be brought from home. On Friday we insist on only Fruits and water.
  • Group Time: Children get together with their key worker in their group to develop a range of skills, such as making sets of objects or identifying shapes. Children will also experience activities planned to develop social, creative, physical, design and arts and crafts.
